Comedy Sketch: “Buying a Bucket” – Chuckle Brothers Style

    Characters:

    • Barry Chuckle

    • Paul Chuckle

Scene: A small shop. Buckets are stacked everywhere.

Paul walks in carrying a note and looking serious.

    Barry follows, looking confused.

Paul: Right Barry, we’re here to buy a bucket.

Barry: A bucket? What do we need a bucket for?

Paul: It’s for the slots strategy!

Barry: Slots strategy? I thought we were cleaning the patio!

Paul: No Barry, listen carefully. I’ve been watching someone play the slots.

Barry: Oh dear… this sounds expensive.

    Paul picks up two buckets.

Paul: Now imagine these buckets are slot machines.

Barry: They look like buckets to me.

    Paul: To you they do.

    Barry: To me they do.

    Both: To me… to you!

(They accidentally pass the bucket back and forth several times.)

Paul: Right! Now this bucket has 50 lines.

    Barry: Fifty lines?!

Paul: Yes! Lots of little wins.

Barry: Like when you find fifty pennies down the sofa.

    Paul: Exactly!

    Barry: Which never happens.

Paul picks up a smaller bucket.

Paul: Now THIS bucket has 5 lines.

    Barry: That’s hardly any lines!

Paul: Yes, but the wins are BIGGER.

Barry: So fewer wins… but bigger ones?

    Paul: Exactly.

    Barry: I don’t understand.

Paul: Imagine you put £1 in each line.

Barry: I’d rather put the £1 in my pocket.

    Paul: Focus Barry!

Barry: I am focused. I’m focused on keeping my £1.

Paul: If this bucket had 50 lines at £1 each…

    Barry: That’s £50!

    Paul: Exactly!

Barry: I’m definitely keeping my £1.

Paul: That’s why the big machines reduce the lines.

Barry: Ohhh! So the bet doesn’t get ridiculous.

    Paul: Correct.

Barry: Like you buying five buckets when we only need one.

    Paul: Bottom line, Barry:

More lines = more little wins.

Barry: Less lines = fewer wins…

    Paul: But bigger ones!

    Barry: I like bigger ones.

    Paul: So do I!

    Barry looks into the bucket.

Barry: There’s no money in here.

Paul: Of course not, Barry. It’s a bucket.

Barry: Then why did we buy it?

    Paul: To explain slot machines!

Barry: Couldn’t you just tell me?

Paul: Where’s the fun in that?

Barry sighs and hands Paul the bucket.

Barry: Right… what do we do with it now?

Paul: We take it to the casino!

Barry: A bucket to the casino?!

    Paul: Yes.

    Barry: Why?

    Paul: For the bigger wins.

    Barry looks hopeful.

Barry: And if we don’t win?

Paul: Then we’ll use the bucket…

    Barry: For what?

Paul: To carry all the tears.

    Barry: Oh dear, oh dear!

Both try to walk through the door carrying the bucket at the same time, getting stuck.

Both: To me… To you… To me… To you! 😄
